The present day Native tradition of "Walking the Ridge" was started by the Monongahela Indians who made one of the first pilgrimages to Niagara "Thunder" Falls in 240 B.C. The Monongahela are known as the "First" [generation] Hopewell ancestors.

The Monongahela river runs south to north the same as the Niagara river and it’s Rapids. Monongahela roughly translates to "Violent Red River People" aptly named for the red iron based silt in the river.

Co-incidentally 3rd generation Tonawanda means "Violent River People". They are also ancestors of the Monongahela that stayed here to serve the "Thunder God". Over the years millions of Native Americans have come to celebrate their "Spiritual Quest" to pay homage to the "Great [Thunder God] Father".

To be able to lead your people to a better existence you must first "Walk the Ridge". The ridge is a ledge of rock that extends about 1,000 feet into the water on the "Canadian Horseshoe Falls" side. You walk this ridge as far as your courage will take you to see if you are brave enough and worthy of leading your people. Not everyone succeeds; some have fallen or been washed to their deaths. As Native Americans this is the ultimate test of leadership.

In August 2000 I walked this ridge about 200 feet out and documented by taking several photographs from my position. Sadly the N.Y. State Police confiscated my camera later that month before I could develop all the photos. This is one of six that were taken on that day.

In 2005 the “Native Spirits” smiled on me, this recording studio was created with the former [owner] portable DJ group DANCEFANTASY. They were a N.Y. based group working mostly on Long Island with some performances in NYC.

The music featured on this sight and on http://soundcloud.com/user227696434 has been mastered with high quality DAWS software. The mastering is a combination of Old-Skool [analog] and Nu-Skool [digital] technology and software.

These recordings are above 44KHz to ensure each individual song is recording studio quality, regardless of how inexpensive or expensive your sound system, home theater or stereo may be. Some of the original music was created with what is commonly referred to as “dead instruments”. Some of these are harpsichord, moog, arp, dragon gong, koto and chimes. An accompaniment of violins, violas, oboe, bassoon, marimbas and vibes have also been used in other original songs.

The “BattleJock” re-mixes were done with much forgotten techniques; not available with Serato DJ software or sync button effects. Every mix and re-mix is Old School turntable DJ with “Battle Jock” styles that go back to the 70’s. Some mixes were done with as many as [8] eight turntables, mixing at the same time. The mix-down was done with Sony Software’s ACID and accompanied by the additional creativity of the sound engineers and DJ’s.This is the best of Old-Skool and Nu-Skool DJ techniques, tactics, mixing, scratching and editing.
